Project Description

A short segment on the basic but important technique to drywall taping by hand.  Most DIY drywallers will tape there project by hand.  I’m usually hired to do the texture for people who have taped and coated their project themselves.  It seems that the majority of the people make the same mistakes.  The first mistake is that they don’t wet their mud down and they wait too long to put their tape on.  Mud out of the box is usually too dry to tape with,  tape bubbles usually result because the tape just doesn’t bond.  You also want to use paper tape in my opinion, you can check out my “paper vs. mesh tape” video @ Drywallinstruction.com.  Lastly, remember to put the All Purpose mud away after taping and coat with topping, it will make your sanding process much easier.
